Have you ever attempted to assemble a piece of furniture without first reading the manufacturer’s instructions? I think it’s safe to assume that most of us have attempted this in some form at least once in our lives! How well did that work out for you? Was it sturdy? Could it support heavy weight or did it buckle under pressure? Were there unused parts?

Was it still able to do everything that the manufacturer promised it could? Or did it just look functional and well put together on the outside? Friends, I’d like to challenge you to apply these same questions to your spiritual lives. They are hard questions but are absolutely crucial to walking in all that God has made available to you.

A manufacturer provides instructions for you to get optimal use out of their product. Because they created it, they know it best and what it needs to function optimally. As our manufacturer, God also provided an instruction manual for us to get the best use out of our lives. That instruction manual is His word. You will not truly be able to experience the fullness of God’s love, his purposes for your life, and the provision he has made for it if you do not become students of His living word.
